Brainstorms and Footprints
An improvised managerial meeting over the weekend yielded some unexpected results for Bottled Llama Brewing. Some of the good results may actually have to be accredited to … Bud … well, I can’t finish writing it, but I think you know to whom I am referring. Let me explain.
First, let us mention the original BLB logo: a double headed llama. Now, Hunter and Blazer thought this was just a dandy of an idea. Of course, so did the makers of Doctor Dolittle back in whatever decade it originally came out. H & B had never known anything about ol’ Dolittle. While at the Great American Beer Festival, an offhand comment from an attendee about the pushme-pullyu nature of their logo set them to re-thinking the design (in all truth, it set Blazer right off - I mean that dude was hot about it for weeks!) so as to avoid any copyright issues.
Thus and so, the two men were sitting at a convenience store staring in disgust at a case of Bud Light. You know the logo for that - Bud Light in block letter surrounded by a blue oval of sorts. Well, that discussion digressed into a mutual exchange of mocking. Currently, Blazer is employed by a company that is known for its blue oval; Hunter’s employer has a funny foot with wings. As they mocked each other, Blazer at one point said something to the effect of “put a footprint right up that blue oval of yours!”
It was the footprint comment that made them shutup and realize they had the answer to their logo conundrum. They needed a llama’s footprint. A long discussion ensued regarding the design, bottle labels, bottle caps, color schemes, etc. Anyone who has the old logo design - it’s now a collector’s item.
At long last, the naming schemata and beer legends have come into focus. You’ll get a preview of this stuff in a future entry. So, until the next pint ….
